Historic concert event celebrating Art Blakey's 70th Birthday Jubilee Concert ''Newly Remastered''!

This ALL STAR group gathered to celebrate Art Blakey's 70th Birthday on October 9th 1989. The concert at the Leverkusen Jazz Festival was recorded for broadcast on German television station ZDF.

Art Blakey with Jazz Messengers (Donald Harrison, Jovan Jackson, Brian Lynch, Essiet Okon Essiet, & Geoff Keezer) plus special guests Wayne Shorter, Benny Golson, Jackie McLean, Freddie Hubbard, Terence Blanchard, Curtis Fuller, Walter Davis Jr., Buster Williams, Roy Haynes & Michele Hendricks.

This historic recording has been out print for many years and is being released in 2019 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Art Blakey's birth.

The Jazz Messengers were affectionately known as students at ''The University of Blakey'', Art Blakey's huge impact on Jazz is impossible to measure.
