One of the leading Swing bandleaders and clarinettists Shaw was noted for his criticisms of the commercialisation of jazz. However this did not stop him from having one of 1938's biggest hits with his version of Cole Porter's title track. His other hits included 'Nightmare' and 'Back Bay Shuffle' featuring his popular vocalist, Helen Forrest. Tracks include; 'Begin The Beguine', Black Bay Shuffle', 'Nightmare', 'Stardust' and 'Oh Lady Be Good'.
