The Mass was composed in 1899 as a doctoral degree exercise, with a requirement to write both choral and orchestral movements. The performing edition was prepared by Alan Tongue, who conducts The Bach Choir and New Queen's Hall Orchestra in this live recording of the first performance in 2011.
