While The Beatles are known first and foremost as composers of the finest songs the world has ever known, they never shied away from wearing there own musical influences smack bang on their sleeves. And like other master songsmiths such as Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, the Fab Four recorded cover version after cover version during their career, adding their own twist to their personal favourites.

This collection features songs that either were covered in performance by The Beatles, or influenced their song-writing, or were personal or collective favourites of the boys. Two of the songs featured here were included in John Lennon's own portable jukebox.

This collection traces the formative sounds that were influential in the development of the members of the Beatles up to the time that Lennon and McCartney met and began playing together.
