Description

Betty Hutton, the 'Blonde Bombshell' sang with the Vincent Lopez orchestra before being chosen in 1940 for 'Panama Hattie', the hit musical on Broadway, playing second lead to Ethel Merman. This lead to a film contract in Hollywood with Paramount and the dynamic Miss Hutton exploded into prominence with her first film 'The Fleet's In'. The 1940s were good for Betty Hutton - her films were popular and her recordings were hits. She had a US chart-topper with 'Doctor, Lawyer, Indian Chief' and her version of 'It Had To Be You' was a Top Five hit.

The press described her as '.. blonde, blue-eyed, wide-mouthed, tempestuous and temperamental' and appeared in a series of hit films - Incendiary Blonde, Star Spangled Rhythm, The Stork Club, The Perils of Pauline, Annie Get Your Gun, The Greatest Show on Earth, and Somebody Loves Me. Included here are It's Oh So Quiet! and the songs from the film 'Somebody Loves Me', remastered and many appearing on CD for the first time.
