Description
There were few better rhythm sections in the jazz mainstream. No wonder Love Remains has become a classic.
The quartet that created Love Remains in November 1986 is generally regarded as one of his hottest line-ups with the album becoming an acknowledged classic, for example, The Penguin Guide to Jazz gave the album its highest rating and included it in its “core collection”- a “must have” album for any jazz collection. With Curtis Lundy on bass, renewing his partnership with Hicks from their days in Betty Carter’s trio, and “Smitty” Smith on drums, there were few better rhythm sections in the jazz mainstream. No wonder Love Remains has become a classic.
