Description
After a grieving family's home burns down, conflicting accounts and rumors of a mysterious curse spread like wildfire.
Burning is an atmospheric psychological horror film that explores grief, superstition, and the elusive nature of truth through a haunting mystery. After the home of a grieving family is consumed by fire in a quiet suburban village, conflicting eyewitness accounts and persistent rumors of a supernatural curse spread rapidly throughout the community. As every witness offers a different version of the tragedy, the mystery surrounding the fire grows increasingly unsettling, leaving the line between reality and folklore impossible to distinguish.
Inspired by the multi-perspective storytelling associated with the 'Rashomon' tradition, the film gradually reveals its narrative through contradictory testimonies, encouraging viewers to question every version of events. Themes of collective fear, trauma, loss, and superstition combine to create an unsettling psychological horror experience rooted as much in human uncertainty as in the possibility of the supernatural.
Directed by Radik Eshimov, the film stars Aisanat Edigeeva as Asel in a haunting mystery set against the backdrop of contemporary Kyrgyzstan.
