A full decade after her death in 1994, Carmen McRae remains one of the truly great and enduring female jazz names of the 20th century, a singer, composer, performer and accomplished pianist who is still remembered and respected and, indeed, her work remains in demand by a legion of discerning jazz fans. Her performances at the 1982 Montreux Jazz Festival, captured on this electrifying live recording, cover a gamut of different musical styles, and provide a splendid insight into McRae's performing career.
