Like Miles Davis, he has at every stage played contemporary music, always remaining open to new ideas and never allowing his creative arteries to harden” Ian CarrQuique Sinesi, born in Buenos Aires in 1960 is one of the most important musicians in the comtemporary music scene of Argentinia. He has frequently toured Europe with Dino Saluzzi’s Band and with Pablo Ziegler (Astor Piazolla’s pianist). Since working with Dino Saluzzi in the late 80‘s (where he first met Sinesi) it was Charlie Mariano’s wish to create a fusion of New Tango and Jazz. When I asked him a few month ago to do a recording for enja he told me the thing he really wants to do is a recording with Quique Sinesi. Mariano’s passionat saxophon sounds fit perfect to Sinesi’s sophisticated harmonies. A wonderful combination of musical intelligence and emotion.
