Description

Release Date: 11/08/11

Here are 25 examples of the emergent Chicago Blues genre recorded between 1926 and 1945. The city's pre-eminence as a Blues centre was not only due to the proliferation of clubs and recording companies based in the city but also to the ever increasing Black population. This is the music that shaped the Chicago Blues explosion of the 1950s and in turn its own influence over '60s rock. Full biographical and disco graphical details are included in the 8-page booklet. Tracks include 'Bedroom Blues (Sippie Wallace'), 'Honky Tonk Train Blues' (Meade Lux Lewis), 'Big Bill Blues' (Big Bill Broonzy), 'Beer Drinkin' Woman' (Memphis Slim ) and 'This Tavern Boogie (Roosevelt Sykes Trio).
