Phoenix, Arizona darkwave project Corbeau Hangs returns with Archive State, its second full-length album and first release for Artoffact Records. Led by Manuel Perez with Quinn Tipton, the project draws together the raw pulse of post-punk, industrial textures, coldwave atmosphere and synth-driven electronics, creating music steeped in the shadowy aesthetics of 1980s horror and science fiction while retaining a distinctly contemporary identity.

Archive State expands upon the sound established on Corbeau Hangs' 2023 debut album, Optograms. Where that record found Perez combining influences from darkwave and post-punk with gritty synthesizers and drum machines, Archive State pushes further into an electronic world of haunted nostalgia, retrofuturism and cinematic unease. Themes of tragic hope, hauntings and the search for the unknown give the album an atmosphere reminiscent of paranormal investigations and forgotten genre-film soundtracks.

Across ten tracks, the record moves from the introductory 'Emergence' through the driving 'Scanners,' 'Horrorizer,' 'Retrofuturismo' and 'Ill Intents,' before continuing with 'Technicolor,' 'Modular,' 'Neon Blood,' the title track and closing 'Violent Forms.' Synth textures, insistent post-punk rhythms and spectral vocals provide the connective tissue, balancing gothic melancholy with a more propulsive electronic edge.
