Come Before Winter is the debut album from jazz trumpet artist David Champagne. David is known for his fiery, soulful playing and for his big, warm, brilliant sound. His compositions have strong memorable melodies and inviting styles. He has surrounded himself with a stellar group of musicians with whom he has shared musical experiences for years. This band, The Champagne Jazz Quintet (CJQ), is a powerful and clear musical force that communicates on a high level. There is a special artistic connection that takes place when a group of musicians truly enjoy being together. The CJQ is comprised of pianist Scott Giddens, saxophonist Todd DelGiudice, drummer John Lumpkin II, and bassist Dennis Marks. The band is joined by the unbelievable Michael Dease on trombone and baritone saxophone. Recorded on March 3-4 at the Studio at NFS Ranch in Elkton, Florida, Come Before Winter was engineered by Ryan LeRoy and Aaron Swihart with additional leadership from Mica Bethea. Mixing and mastering was done by the legendary Dave Darlington at Bass Hit Studio, New York, NY. The project was produced by the incomparable Ulysses Owens Jr.
