Description
Naturally, it is impossible to equal the technical precision and stylistic flair of the great virtuoso Rafael Mendez, but the purpose in making this CD was to honor the spirit and inspiration he gave by raising the artistic standards of the trumpet. David Hickman discovered several excellent trumpet solos and trios that Mendez composed but never recorded. This seemed the perfect opportunity to give them rebirth after over forty years of silence...with arguably a handful of some of the finest trumplet players in the world!
