Description
'Trauma' will be the 6th studio album collaboration from DBA (Downes Braide Association).
Trauma is the sixth studio album from DBA, the Downes Braide Association, a studio-based progressive rock partnership formed by keyboardist and composer Geoff Downes and singer-songwriter, pianist, and producer Chris Braide. Drawing on the pair's extensive backgrounds in progressive rock, new wave, melodic pop, and studio production, DBA creates accessible, song-focused progressive music built around expansive keyboards, expressive vocals, and cinematic arrangements. Their catalog began with Pictures of You in 2012 and continued through Suburban Ghosts, Skyscraper Souls, Halcyon Hymns, and Celestial Songs, alongside the concert release Live in England.
Geoff Downes first achieved worldwide recognition as one half of The Buggles, whose 'Video Killed the Radio Star' became an international hit. He subsequently joined Yes and became a founding member of Asia with Steve Howe, Carl Palmer, and John Wetton, co-writing enduring songs including 'Heat of the Moment.' Downes later returned to Yes, bringing to DBA a distinctive keyboard style shaped by progressive rock, electronic music, new wave, and melodic arena rock.
Chris Braide is an award-winning British singer-songwriter, pianist, composer, and producer whose work extends across solo recordings, film music, advertising, and collaborations with Sia, Lana Del Rey, Hans Zimmer, Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé, Paloma Faith, Britney Spears, and Marc Almond. Originally signed as a solo artist by Dave Stewart of Eurythmics, Braide was also a founding member of The Producers with Trevor Horn and Stephen Lipson. Within DBA, his vocals, lyrics, production, and melodic instincts transform Downes' instrumental ideas into richly structured progressive pop songs.
The songs on Trauma emerged from emotional fractures and examine the ghosts people inherit, the wounds they conceal, and the light that continues to break through periods of darkness. Although its themes confront suffering, memory, and personal damage, the album ultimately centers on endurance and survival.
This double-vinyl edition is distinguished by cover artwork from celebrated artist Roger Dean, whose imaginative landscapes and unmistakable visual style have become closely associated with progressive rock through his landmark work for Yes and Asia. His contribution gives Trauma a notable visual connection to Geoff Downes' musical history while extending DBA's cinematic and otherworldly identity. The album features 'Hello Hello,' 'Trauma,' 'King of Karma,' 'Wonderland,' 'I Wish I'd Known,' 'Do You Remember?,' 'Juliet,' 'Lake of Memories,' and 'Wherever You Are Now.'
