Description
A highly captivating album by these doom stoner rockers!
Formed during an impromptu recording session at SXSW 2022 in Austin, TX, Demons My Friends emerged as a cross-cultural force uniting three musicians from Mexico City--Pablo Antón (guitars, vocals), Lu Salinas (bass, vocals), and Tarro Martínez (drums). What began as an unplanned collaboration quickly crystallized into one of the most dynamic new power trios in modern heavy music, their chemistry immediate and electrifying.
Their debut album, Demons Seem To Gather (2023), channels the inner journeys the band's members faced during the isolation and upheaval of the COVID era. Each track delves into themes of self-reckoning, confronting anxiety, depression, and anger, while discovering ways to transmute those "demons" into allies--a philosophy that gives the band its name. The record's lyrical and sonic worlds mirror that process: turbulent yet cathartic, heavy yet introspective, combining the raw might of doom and grunge with the hypnotic sway of desert rock and psychedelia.
Drawing sonic lineage from Monolord, King Buffalo, All Them Witches, and Soundgarden, Demons My Friends carve a space uniquely their own--one where towering riffs meet meditative reflection, and molten grooves dissolve into moments of crystalline melody. The album was recorded at Red Nova Ranch in Austin, TX, and Soga Records in Jiutepec, Mexico; produced and mixed by Jeff Henson (High Desert Queen, Spirit Adrift) and mastered for vinyl by Esben Willems (Monolord) at Studio Berserk in Gothenburg, Sweden.
As the band brought Demons Seem To Gather to the stage, their reputation grew quickly. They've shared bills with Bruce Dickinson and Graveyard, and have performed at major festivals including Levitation, SXSW, Mexico Metal Fest, and Ripplefest Texas. Each live set captures the band's dual nature--seismic heaviness intertwined with emotional honesty, where every note feels both feral and human.
Demons Seem To Gather is more than a debut; it's a manifesto for finding light through distortion--a deeply personal, unflinchingly powerful exploration of the self through sound.
