Dinah Washington was a major influence over some of the great female soul singers of the last 50 years including Aretha Franklin and Esther Phillips. Her powerful style can still be heard echoed in some of today's stars such as Mary J. Blige and Alicia Keys. These 20 tracks include some of her earliest recordings with the Lionel Hampton Band and her first solo record outings.
