Don Cornell was one of the coterie of Italian-American crooners to come to the fore in the post-war years, and who enjoyed his heyday in what is often called the 'golden age of popular music' in the early '50s. Beginning his career singing with the Red Nichols band, he had his first hits with Sammy Kaye's orchestra during the war and immediate post-war years, before going solo and reeling off a string of chart entries through the early '50s and into the rock 'n' roll era, adapting his style to suit the changing tastes in the pop market.
