Duane Eddy was perhaps the most important artist in the whole genre of rock 'n' roll instrumentals which burgeoned in the late '50s in the wake of the rock 'n' roll explosion, his uniquely distinctive twangy guitar sound spawning a string of hits through into the 1960s on both sides of the Atlantic. With Lee Hazlewood's trademark productions, featuring rasping sax, Duane helped inspire a generation of teenagers to pick up a guitar and emulate his technique. He enjoys continuing respect from many artists who cite him as a major influence, and has recorded and performed with many contemporaries and younger artists over the years. This 66-track 2-CD collection comprises every track which was released in the USA and UK as an A or B side, or on an EP, from his 1956 debut as Jimmy & Duane with Buddy Long's Western Melody Boys. It features more than twenty chart records, including nine Top 10 hits, but also includes some rarely-heard material from the B sides and EPs, and will provide a veritable twang-fest for his admirers - he still commands interest from an army of fans around the world.
