After the East Side Octet had performed Schubert's Octet on Deutschlandradio Kultur in 2010, the internationally acclaimed composer Mario Wiegand was commissioned to compose a new work to compliment Schubert's music, which the composer agreed to immediately. In 2013 the work, which juxtaposes and sheds new light on Schubert's legendary work, was completed and both released on the ES-DUR label.
