Reedin’ the Air turns clarinet and accordion into a vivid contemporary theatre of memory, myth, image and striking timbral invention.

During the course of the 18th century the cello rose from a humble accompanying bass instrument to a full-fledged solo instrument in its own right. This Da Vinci Classics album explores the potential of this instrument, in an ensemble where three cellos interact, pointing out the variety of timbres and styles they can evoke. The works featured here are by Giuseppe Clemente Dall’Abaco, represented by two Trios and three Caprices (these are each played by a different cellist among the three musicians constituting the trio “Tiefsaits”), and two sonatas “à tre”, one by Jean-Baptiste Barrière and one by Benedetto Marcello.
