Deformed black metal duo Ergholae Somptator barks in cold anger towards humankind, through the murky waters of time and death.
Following the home-produced demo 'Raptus du fané' in 2014 and the 'Morendo jusqu'à la fin' EP released in 2016 through Depressive Illusion Records, Jérôme Bouquet and Léo Louis-Honoré have launched themselves into their first full-length project. 'Eau ardente' (French for Firewater) releases on 10th february 2020 on CD, cassette and digital through Marwolaeth Records. Raw, spontaneous and avant-garde, Eau ardente was designed, recorded and mixed by the duo before being mastered by Devo Andersson (Marduk) at Endarker Studio.
In june 2020, the duo hits the studio to record its second album, 'Mille vertiges fondent sur les âmes vides' (French for A thousand vertigoes descend on empty souls). Recorded, mixed and mastered by Olivier Molina at Dismalsound studio, this album displays an undeniable efficiency and an intricate dialogue between the guitar and bass parts, whereas its predecessor was built on layered guitars and sheer rawness. By tightening their focus, Ergholae Somptator have allowed the very essence of their music to emphasize their intentions without losing the tortuous developments which form their identity. Ergholae Somptator's lyrics are excusively written in French, so as to transpose the duo's poetics visions in the most faithful way possible.
