The compositions of Filippo Gragnani consist, like those of many guitarists of his day, of a considerable volume of chamber music in addition to solo works. The known works by Gragnani number around 40. more than half the works were published during his lifetime, but only a few are nowadays available in print. There are, howewer, no doubt a number of manuscripts by Gragnani and dozens of his contemporaries hidden in Italian museums and conservatoires and awaiting publication, two centuries after they were composed. - Ilkka Virta
