Essex Green "Expanded Edition" compiles the debut 12"EP, long out of print 7" singles, and some unreleased tracks by this neo-psychedelic group.

HHBTM Records is proud to announce the newest edition to the HHBTM Archive Series with the long overdue reissue of the self-titled debut EP by the Essex Green fully expanded compiling early singles and never before released bonus tracks. The self-titled debut EP from this New England neo-psychedelic group made up of members of Ladybug Transistor and Guppyboy was a solid five song 12' released by the Elephant 6 label which sold out in what felt like minutes and was near impossible to track down within the week of release. The expanded part of this reissue includes three tracks 'March to the Green', 'The Crow', and 'All Summer Long' from the split 7' single with the more alt-country side of the band Sixth Great Lakes that originally came out on the Sudden Shame label in 1999. The next expanded tracks include 'Monkey Man', 'My Guitar's Too Cool for Me', and 'Yesterday and Today' from the HHBTM Singles Club 7' from 2000 that came out on the Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records, and then we get two completely unreleased tracks from the early basement tapes archive of the band 'No Small Faces' and 'Howard Street Tonight.' These early releases created the buzz that got them signed to Kindercore Records in 2000 for their debut album 'Everything Is Green' which was recently reissued on the Spanish label Dust and Memory in late 2025. The band would soon sign to Merge Records and release three more albums over the following 20 years. This expanded edition of their self-titled debut EP captures the whirlwind that was 1999 / 2000 for one of the most talked about bands of that era that felt like came out of nowhere yet felt so familiar. The album comes in a full color jacket with insert and download card.
