The official soundtrack to the touching documentary film by Kai Wessel, Katharina Rinderle and Tina Freitag.
The official soundtrack to the touching documentary film by Kai Wessel, Katharina Rinderle and Tina Freitag contains besides big hits six titles that have never been released on CD before. Among them exciting cover versions of all-time soul classics by Prince ('Kiss'), Stevie Wonder ('Have A Talk With God') and Al Green ('I Gotta Be More (Take Me Higher)').
Crossing borders in the true and metaphorical sense - that is what our protagonists, Roger and Eugen Cicero, did with their musical skills - and without exception. As a political refugee Eugen also crossed national borders: He found a home in Germany and the breeding ground for his international success. Both father and son broke new ground in the musical landscape.
Eugen Cicero showed up in Germany and was an immediate sensation! By his mid-20s Eugen had made it, he was famous. Even though he was absent for long periods of time, Eugen had a decisive influence on his son's life. And despite the painful early loss Roger found his way, his musicality - his own personality. Throughout his life he dealt intensively with his father, emulated him, allowed himself to be measured against him and unflinchingly found himself: As a singer who eventually reached an audience of millions across all age groups and backgrounds. A phenomenon, like his father - in a different way. Roger worked hard, kept his feet on the ground and continues to inspire musicians and fellow singers beyond his tragic death. His music is almost the continuation of the path his father took.
These two paths in life - their impact, their intensity, their reverberation and musical uniqueness - could only be told together for the screen.
