This Cd from THE FAVOURITE SONS serves as a perfect testament to the intensity of this energetic young band.
'Who were The FAVOURITE SONS'' 'They must have been very young. I suppose they must have been 17 or 18 and I hate not remembering their names but this was 1965 and I was impessed by their name and fashionable behaviour so I took them on board' said MIKE HURST (who himself was only 23 years old at the time!). In 1965 Mike had established quickly a reputation for himself as an independent producer and he took the Band to Pye Studios, Cumberland Place, London and in little more than an afternoon they recorded both the bands R&B/Soul covers and a couple of Mike's own compositions, making 12 tracks in total. Mike was euphoric and felt that the band had something distinctly Mod and British in their recorded output and he quickly placed a single with Mercury. Sadly within weeks Mike became focused on his new discovery CAT STEVENS and as the incresingly successful artist kept him busy there was little time for The Favourite Sons and they quickly drifted into obscurity.
