A group of queer nomads builds a safe community in the dessert, only for their safety to be shattered by a murder.

In Slab City, a remote outpost in the California desert, a remarkable group of queer nomads built a community of their own. 'Flamingo Camp' was a refuge for those who didn't fit into society, and a close-knit community built on keeping everyone safe. But after the murder of a prominent resident, the community is badly shaken, and its members wonder... is there really such a thing as a 'safe space?' From director Chris Coats comes a raw, intimate, and compassionate look at queer joy, heartbreak, and survival on the edge of the long-broken American Dream. Winner of the Jury Prize for Best Feature at SF DocFest 2025.
