The brothers Frankie and Lewis Lymon were from the Harlem district of New York City, which was a low social-economic community, that was bursting with musical talent, and music was the dream and the opportunity for them to escape from adversity. Each brother fronted a vocal group, Frankie was with The Teenagers and Lewis recorded with The Teenchords. The album focuses on their up-tempo rockers which gained added appeal from the cream of New York City studio musicians being used on the sessions and their presence added an extra dynamic to the recordings.
