Bear Family founder Richard Weize presents another tribute to the phonograph record - a hardcover book (72 full-colour pages, 21 x 26 cm) including a CD with 28 tracks, released on ...And More Bears. Records were part of our lives. Everyone bought them. Some of us took them to parties or shared them with friends, while others preferred to listen alone, drawing inspiration and strength from the music for everyday life. Many people discovered the latest hits on the jukebox or by tuning in to the radio in the evening. Hunting for records was about far more than simply visiting the local record shop. Many of us searched warehouse sales, flea markets and second-hand stores. The world seemed full of hidden places where forgotten records were waiting to be found. It wasn't just the music that fascinated us - it was the records themselves. Many of us still remember our first 78 rpm record. Our first 45. Our first LP. Will today's teenagers ever talk with the same enthusiasm about the first MP3 they downloaded or the first song they streamed? The songs on this collection celebrate the world of phonograph records across five decades - how they were made, bought and played, and how they accompanied every stage of our lives. Most of the music is country and rockabilly, but not exclusively. Just when you least expect it, another musical style will take you by surprise.
