Description

Metopes turns myth into musical image, from Orpheus to Odysseus, in a programme where ancient stories speak vividly to the present.

This complex and fascinating album for soprano, oboe, and piano, by Trio Marilys, focuses mainly on the theme of the night and of femininity, through an exploration of female creativity and of songs, mélodies, and Lieder inspired by the most silent time of all, i.e. that of the night. Among the featured works are pieces by Debussy, Fauré, Poulenc, and even Robert Schumann/ by female composers such as Lili Boulanger, Dora Pejačević, Rita Strohl, Inès Halimi/ and a series of operatic arias chosen among the most beloved pieces by Mozart, Bellini, Verdi, and Puccini.
