Description

Raw NY punk and ska energy from Half Dizzy and ChumHuffer, live, loud, and on vinyl.

DCxPC Live Vol. 45 Presents Half Dizzy / Chumhuffer is a raw, high-energy split live LP that captures two distinct but equally explosive facets of the modern New York punk scene. Pressed as a limited edition of just 200 copies, this release stands as both a visceral document of live performance and a snapshot of a thriving underground community defined by urgency, grit, and unfiltered authenticity. Featuring full live sets from Half Dizzy and ChumHuffer, the album immerses listeners in the chaotic immediacy of the stage, complete with crowd noise, imperfections, and the kind of spontaneous intensity that only exists in a live environment.

Side A showcases Half Dizzy, recorded at Mr. Beery’s in Bethpage, NY, delivering a tightly wound set that blends ska rhythms, fast-paced punk riffs, and hardcore aggression with anthemic, singalong choruses. Voted Best Long Island Band by Alternative Press readers in 2025, Half Dizzy’s performance channels infectious energy and musical versatility, shifting seamlessly between groove-driven passages and high-speed punk assault. Tracks like “Never Been Happier,” “Late Nights,” and “Sidelines” highlight their ability to balance melody and intensity while maintaining a relentless forward momentum that translates powerfully to vinyl.

Side B features ChumHuffer, recorded live at Blue Point Brewing Company, delivering their signature “Sharkcore” sound—a fusion of punk aggression, dark humor, and socially charged themes. Their set is louder, faster, and more chaotic, leaning into abrasive textures and confrontational lyricism that reflects the anxiety and absurdity of modern life. Songs such as “Miami,” “Blood in the Water,” “Slaughterhouse,” and “Cancel Me” embody a raw, confrontational energy, enhanced by the audible presence of the crowd and the unpolished edges of the performance. The band’s willingness to embrace imperfection reinforces the authenticity of the recording, making it feel immediate and alive.

Production details further emphasize the DIY ethos of the release. Half Dizzy’s set was recorded by Mike Longo and mixed and mastered by Joshua “Danger” Dobbs at Danger Room Recording Services, while ChumHuffer’s performance was recorded by Cameron Wustenhoff and mixed/mastered by Jast Collum. The album artwork, created by Shawn Refuse, complements the project’s aesthetic, reinforcing its connection to punk’s visual and cultural identity.

As part of the DCxPC Live series, this volume functions not just as a release but as an archival artifact—preserving the sound, energy, and spirit of a specific moment in the New York punk scene. With its limited pressing, dual-band format, and uncompromising presentation, DCxPC Live Vol. 45 Presents Half Dizzy / Chumhuffer is essential for collectors and fans seeking an unfiltered, high-volume document of contemporary punk in its most immediate form.
