Conductor Jeffrey Tate was drawn to putting together symphonic works based on the theme of the gods. The experienced Wagner interpreter thus hit upon the idea of juxtaposing the apocalyptic of Richard Wagner's 'Götterdämmerung' with Igor Stravinsky's ballet 'Apollon Musagète'. This CD/DVD special edition by the Hamburger Symphoniker also features the renowned American soprano Deborah Voigt.
