Description
Various artists combine for this tribute to the late, great man.
Poet, songwriter, soldier, collector, academic â none of these pigeon-holes do justice to the late HAMISH HENDERSON, one of the great cultural figures of 20th century Scotland. Sadly Hamish died in Edinburgh on 8th March, 2002, but at the celebration of Hamishâs life, which followed one of the largest Edinburgh funerals in recent times, the idea of a tribute album was already being suggested to Ian Green of Greentrax Recordings. Work commenced immediately on the project and producer Dr. Fred Freeman and studio engineer Peter Haigh put the final touches to the master in April, 2003. The artwork was completed in late July and a release date for the album of 1st September was set. The finished album consists mainly of Hamishâs songs and poems and is accompanied by very extensive sleeve notes and song lyrics.
