Description

'No one sings as purely as those who are in the deepest hell. Theirs is the song

Born of the voices of past lives and baptized in the dust bowl dirt, the dark
roots music of the HEATHEN APOSTLES harkens back to a bygone
chapter of American history while firmly keeping one foot planted in the
present-day city of Los Angeles.
Crossing paths at a gathering one Indian summer evening, femme fatale
bellower Mather Louth (Radio Noir) and rock n roll veteran Chopper
Franklin (The Cramps, Nick Curran & the Lowlifes) quickly uncovered a
mutual appreciation for murder balladry, Americana, and memento mori. It
was not long before a collaboration that sought to marry these interests in a
sonic landscape, THE HEATHEN APOSTLES, surfaced. The landscape was
further tilled with the addition of Thomas Lorioux (The Kings of Nuthin')
on bass, Stevyn Grey (Christian Death, 45 Grave) on drums, and Luis
Mascaro on fiddle.
'If there is such a thing in the current fringe roots genre as a supergroup, it
would certainly be the Los Angeles-based dark roots and alt-country band
Heathen Apostles' James G. Carlson THE EXAMINER
The constant output of songs and videos capture the essence of the Heathen
Apostles modus operandi: Southern gothic imagery surrounded by
haunting, minor-chord melodies, musical influences including Gothic,
Bluegrass, Blues, and Gypsy Jazz, all deftly bound together by the band's
dark and sometimes brooding sense of a bygone age. 2015's Fool's Gold and
Death's Head singles, 2014's Without A Trace EP, and their debut album,
2013's Boot Hill Hymnal are out now on Ratchet Blade Records. Their
second album Fire To The Fuse will be in stores Feburary 5th and their third
single and video of 2015, Loretta Lynn's Fist City is out now.
'There is a delightful variety of musical here, including Gothic, Cabaret,
Blues, and Gypsy Jazz, that is deftly bound together by the band's dark and
sometimes brooding sense of a bygone age.' Midnight Calling Magazine
