In addition to his own recordings, he worked with Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and Joanie Mitchell. Recorded prolifically and has been a huge influence on all improvisational to this day Died of Lou Gerhig's disease in 1979.
