The CD features chamber music by the Hamburg-born composer Wolgang-Andreas Schulz, who studied with Györgi Ligeti and was his assistant in the 1980s. Schulz initially combined his teacher's static soundscapes with Impressionist compositional techniques. He soon broke away from Ligeti's avant-garde approach, pursuing instead evolutionary music aesthetics in which innovation evolves from tradition.
