At the age of 25, KYN, the Female Choir of the Student Union of Helsinki School of Economics, is on a threshold The choir has always fearlessly faced new challenges, all the while developing its repertoire and honing its skills. Now, once again, the choir heads toward a new style of vocal expression with Kynnyksella - On a Threshold, an album that showcases fresh Finnish jazz music as interpreted by a dynamic female choir and first-class musicians.For this album the choir has commissioned several new compositions and arrangements that have been created with KYNin mind. The talented Finnish composers of this album are Anna-Mari Kähärä, Jukka Linkola, Mia Makaroff, Mirja Mäkela, Ralf Nyqvist and Säde Rissanen. The lyrics of the songs are equally Finnish, from the pens of Finnish poets such as Arlo Melleri, Kirsi 'Kunnas and Aila Meriluolo. Composers Mirja Mäkela and Mia Makaroff have also penned lyrics, and Säde Rissanen has compiled the lyrics for her composition from old Karelian folk poetry.
