Description
Rough, Ready and Right
Lefty Dizz had a great reputation amongst those in the know but had rarely left Chicago. So, when a UK tour was planned, a proven formula was used: get the record made in Chicago, use it to secure tour dates, then use the tour to promote the album. So this wonderful record was made - Blues of great depth and passion - raw and powerful. And Carey Bell and his sons were on hand to supply the tightest of support. Dizz was a bluesman through and through; music, image and attitude who died too young of a particularly nasty cancer - but not before he had made several English and European tours for JSP including a 1991 visit in the company of Big Moose Walker. Again, an album was made in Chicago before Moose's visit - with Lefty and his band backing. Four of those tracks are bonus presentations here. Moose was a fine pianist and singer, somewhat neglected both by the critics and record labels. This set catches him in great form. It's only a couple of decades ago but already these sessions have a 'vintage' quality.
