Description
Great contemporary jazz with roots in the 50s and 60s Blue Note music. Adding a Weather Report feeling to some tracks for explaining the groove
Does the cover of Magnus Bakken's album remind you of earlier Blue Note albums from the 50s and/or 60s? Maybe it's not entirely coincidental, because much of the music here sounds like it has its roots in this fantastic period of American jazz. Magnus probably has a good eye for this music, but since the music was recorded very recently, the music is completely up to date. Consider that the keyboardist Jørn Øien has played a lot of Weather Report music lately with a Joe Zawinul memorial band. Zawinul's spirit lingers over some of the songs. Great contemporary jazz.
