An innovative, memorable combination of Mediterranean rhythms, Latin roots and dynamic contemporary American jazz.
A collection of nine original Mediterranean-inspired jazz tunes written over the course of a 10-year period by Italian composer and jazz guitarist Marco Bittelli. Recorded in 2007, the cross-cultural collaboration represents a variety of styles, from Latin ballads to contemporary jazz. Bittelli first studied guitar under tutelage of Italian jazz guitarist Jimmy Villotti and later from legendary jazz guitar great Joe Pass. In 1995 he began composing and performing with Horace Alexander Young, one of America's most versatile and talented flute and saxophone players. A number of other noted American jazz artists also feature on the album, including classical composer and pianist Charles Argersinger, David Snider on bass, David Jarvis on drums and Ruth Boden on cello. The result is a memorable collection of innovative, original jazz compositions inspired both by the Mediterranean and Latin rhythms Bittelli was raised on and the dynamic American jazz scene he went on to embrace.
