Description

Dante's Divine Comedy reimagined: Marianne Nowottny blends keyboards & electronics with celestial grace.

Originally issued as a 70 copy cassette only release (which quickly sold out) on the boutique Belgium label Slow Tapes, Divine Cantos is Marianne Nowottny's engagement with Dante Alighieri's epic masterpiece, the Divine Comedy. Drawing inspiration from Dante's poetic journey through light, shadow, and spiritual transcendence, she constructs an otherworldly sonic sanctuary with vocals, keyboards and electronics that mirrors the structural and thematic gravity of the Italian master's cantos. In her review for Shindig! magazine, acclaimed music journalist Jeanette Leech praised Nowottny as one of the 'folk avant-gardes best kept secrets'. An iconic outsider artist interpreting literary grandeur with hedonistic abandon and celestial grace.
