Description
The release of the album on Martin Rummel's 50th birthday is a celebratory milestone and an invitation to share this personal gift with the world.
'The two sonatas by Johannes Brahms belong to the Olympus of the repertoire for every cellist, where, together with the suites by Bach and the sonatas by Beethoven, they virtually form the Trinity of our Old Testament,' says cellist Martin Rummel, whose exploration of these pieces began in the 1980s, enriched by collaborations with numerous eminent pianists and influenced by a plethora of exceptional recordings, including one by his mentor, William Pleeth. With this new recording, Rummel offers his own interpretation, confident in the unique insight he has developed over decades of public engagement with these sonatas, especially in collaboration with Stefan Stroissnig. The release of the album on Rummel's 50th birthday is a celebratory milestone and an invitation to share this personal gift with the world.
