Description
Brand new album from legendary rock 'n' roll icon Marty Wilde.
A living legend of British rock 'n' roll, Marty Wilde returns with Let's Rock This Place -- a brand-new album that celebrates both his pioneering legacy and his undiminished creative fire. Recorded in collaboration with guitarist, producer, and longtime fan Darrel Higham (known for his work with Imelda May, Chrissie Hynde, and Jeff Beck, as well as The Kat Men alongside Slim Jim Phantom), the album fuses classic rockabilly energy with a modern edge. The result is an intoxicating 12-track set that pairs Wilde's unmistakable voice and swagger with Higham's fiery guitar and the powerhouse backing of The Enforcers, one of the UK's leading rockabilly ensembles.
Born Reginald Leonard Smith in 1939, Marty Wilde began his musical journey as one of Britain's first true rock 'n' roll stars. Mentored by the legendary impresario Larry Parnes, Wilde broke through in 1958 with the haunting 'Endless Sleep,' followed by a string of chart hits including 'Donna,' 'A Teenager in Love,' 'Sea of Love,' and 'Bad Boy.' His commanding presence on the groundbreaking TV show Oh Boy! made him a household name and cemented his reputation as one of the defining figures of pre-Beatles British pop.
Across his remarkable career, Wilde has released countless singles and albums on labels including Philips, Columbia, Decca, and Magnet, and his songs have been recorded by artists ranging from Tom Jones and Lulu to Status Quo, Hot Chocolate, and his daughter Kim Wilde. His influence as both performer and songwriter spans more than eight decades--a feat officially recognized by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), making him one of the few artists to achieve chart success across eight consecutive decades. In 2017, he was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for Services to Popular Music.
Still touring to sold-out audiences with his acclaimed show Born to Rock 'n' Roll, Marty Wilde remains a magnetic live performer whose energy, wit, and passion continue to inspire generations. Let's Rock This Place captures that same vitality--a vibrant and joyfully defiant statement from an artist who helped invent British rock 'n' roll and continues to define it well into the 21st century.
