Born and raised in Michigan, Melanie has performed at Birdland, Smoke and Toshi's in New York.

Melanie was born and raised in Grand Haven Michigan, where she began singing and expressing her love for music at the age of seven. By the age of ten, she had performed in the musical Sweeney Todd with Tony Award Winner George Hearn and Pamela Meyer. Melanie graduated from Hope College with a BA in Musical Theatre. She has studied opera in Buenos Aires, Argentina at Instituto Universitario Nacional de Arte and trained at Hillsong College in Sydney, Australia. Since moving to New York, she has sung at Birdland, The Plaza Hotel, The Carlton, Toshi's as well as other venues. Her influences are Billie Holiday, Stacey Kent, and Nat King Cole. Musicians on this album include Masami Ishikawa - guitar, Elias Bailey - bass, Alvin Atkinson - drums, Art Hirahara - keyboards.
