New studio album by Miss Ludella Black

No One Makes a Fool out of Me is a new studio album from Miss Ludella Black, the distinctive British garage-rock singer whose career stretches back to the Medway scene of the 1980s. Released by Damaged Goods, the album continues a recording history grounded in garage rock, rhythm & blues, beat music and the raw, direct aesthetic that has connected much of her work across several decades.

Black first became known as a member of The Delmonas, the female garage group closely associated with Thee Milkshakes and the wider Medway scene surrounding Billy Childish. She later became a central member of Thee Headcoatees, alongside Holly Golightly, Kyra LaRubia and Bongo Debbie, bringing a tough, distinctive vocal presence to a group whose records mixed 1960s girl-group attitude, primitive garage rock and rhythm & blues.

Her subsequent solo work has allowed that voice to take center stage. Albums including She's Out There, From This Witness Stand and Till You Lie in Your Grave established Black as an artist in her own right, maintaining the immediacy of her garage roots while drawing on the broader vocabulary of blues, soul and vintage rock & roll.

No One Makes a Fool out of Me extends that lineage with another collection centered on Black's unmistakable presence. More than four decades after her emergence from the Medway underground, she remains connected to the fiercely independent garage-rock tradition that shaped her earliest recordings while continuing to demonstrate why her voice has remained such a recognizable part of the Damaged Goods catalog.
