When two fast-talking hitmen, Sam and Harvey, recruit Johnny Vince -- a smooth-talking swing-era hepcat -- for a so-called 'botched robbery' in Las Vegas, they find themselves on a wildly off-kilter road trip through the world of indie cinema. Along the way they pick up a disenchanted hostage, Julianne, and run head-long into a series of absurd characters inspired by beloved independent films: a memory-impaired genius, cueing a riff on Memento; playful nods to Amélie, Pulp Fiction, The Good Girl and many others. As their heist veers further off course, the trio hurtle through a comedic mash-up of indie tropes -- mistaken identities, existential crises, gangsters, maids, mariachi performers and even a foul-mouthed answering machine. By the time it's over, My Big Fat Independent Movie serves as both a parody and a love-letter to the indie-film world -- full of fast jokes, sharper barbs and gleeful winks at film-nerd tradition
