With their debut album 'Citizen Wayne' released in 1998, the duo Nighthawks created quite a sensation. Seldom before was a newcomer so successful in the field of groove jazz, and seldom before did the media and audience both agree on the excellent quality of a new release. Of course, the nightly name is actually a cover for two old hands: Producer and bassist Dal Martino and trumpeter Reiner Winterschladen are both renowned musicians in the European jazz and pop scene. Plus they are both long-standing members of Trance Groove, the major German Electronica dancefloor act whose album ''Paramount'' was nominated for an AFIM Indie-Award. Together as Nighthawks , they are the officially certified experts for cool grooves and atmospheric samples, graced with the clear voice of a lone trumpet telling tales from the big city - sometimes articulated crisply, and other times whispered longingly.
