Anna-Maaria Oramo's new album contains a collection of 12 works from Antonio Soler's extensive and colorful set of clavier sonatas. Oramo describes the program of his choice on the disc:âThe program is a kind of curve of tonal colors and tones, starting with a perky sonata in C major and ending with a longing a minor sonata. Of course, as an external performer who grew up in Finnish culture, I can only say that the Spanish atmosphere is present in Soler's music in a special way. Strong contrasts, decorativeness and the occasional guitar-like texture remind me of flamenco. Solerâs life, his devout monk and passionate musicianship, give his music a personal look. Solerâs amazing spectrum of expressive scale opens up in small details and beyond broad style concepts. The modification of the themes, the personal decoration and the wild virtuosity take the caller and listener into a world of the most diverse emotional states. â
