Chydenius had a large collection of music. The most notable item was an arragement for choir and string quartett of the Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. Other fine gems included six symphonies by Franz Xaver Richter, and works by Rosetti, Abel, Pugnani, Sacchini and Graaf. These represented the contemporary music of their day and were sped to 1770`s Kokkola by the Amsterdam publisher Johann Julius Hummel. Another music-loving clergyman in Kokkola Johan Snellman, set up as an agent for Hummel thus kept both Finland and Kokkola well suplien with printed music.
