Tears in Time is Peter Hammill's first new work in five years, bringing together eleven reflective songs recorded at various locations within his Terra Incognita studio between 1991 and 2026. Cinematic in its sense of storytelling, the collection examines memory, change, uncertainty, and the passage of time through music that remains emotionally resonant while continuing to challenge conventional expectations.

Hammill is an English singer-songwriter, pianist, guitarist, producer, and founding member of the progressive rock group Van der Graaf Generator. As the band's principal creative voice and through an extensive solo career, he developed a highly individual body of work distinguished by dramatic vocals, literary lyrics, experimental arrangements, and an uncompromising approach to composition and performance.

Across more than five decades, Hammill has moved between progressive rock, art rock, intimate piano songs, abrasive guitar music, electronic experimentation, and unaccompanied vocal performance. His work consistently favors emotional and intellectual exploration over predictable structures, allowing each project to establish its own musical language while retaining his recognizable intensity.
