Index I is the debut release from Pseudobiblion, a compendium of old-school Death Metal and Doom Metal inspired by the legacy of Grotesque, Nihilist, Dark Tranquillity, early Death, and Autopsy. Featuring members of Nihili Locus, DVM Spiro, and Manhunt, the project was created to honor both the enduring influence of gothic and horror literature and the spirit of 1990s extreme metal, combining crushing riffs with carefully placed melodic passages that evoke the ghosts of the past and welcome listeners into the darkness.

The album's title draws inspiration from the Index Librorum Prohibitorum, the list of prohibited books established by the Catholic Church during the sixteenth century to suppress works and authors considered heretical. Rather than adapting or summarizing classic gothic and horror fiction, the band uses original, unaltered excerpts from the selected literary works as the lyrical foundation for each composition. The result is an intense and decadent listening experience that celebrates the precursors of both Gothic literature and underground metal while preserving the spirit of the original texts.

Balancing the crushing weight of classic Death and Doom Metal with haunting atmosphere and literary ambition, Index I explores timeless tales of horror, mystery, and the supernatural through music.
